BlueGen(R) receives MCS accreditation and is eligible for UK Feed in Tariff

Thursday 25 August 2011

Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited (ASX / AIM: CFU) a leading developer of high efficiency and low emission electricity generation units for homes and other buildings, is pleased to announce that its BlueGen(R) Microgeneration Heat and Power (mCHP) product has received final Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) product and factory accreditation, enabling BlueGen customers to benefit from the UK government's feed in tariff financialincentive scheme.

BlueGen is the first fuel cell product to receive MCS certification and be eligible for the UK feed in tariff.

BlueGen customers will now be able to use their BlueGen to export electricity into the National Grid and earn revenue during the process. The feed in tariffs are 10.5 pence per kilowatt hour of electricity generated, plus an additional 3.1 pence per kilowatt hour of electricity exported to the grid.

BlueGen uses ceramic fuel cells to turn natural gas into electricity and heat for hot water, with each unit capable of producing more than three times the electricity needed to power the average UK home. Surplus electricity can be sold back to the grid. BlueGen also provides heat for domestic hot water use. BlueGen units generate electricity at up to double the efficiency of the current UK power grid, reducing energy bills as well as making significant carbon savings.

The MCS certifies microgeneration technologies used to produce electricity and heat from renewable and low emission sources. All microgeneration products must be accredited under MCS in order to be eligible for the UK feed in tariffs. The MCS accreditation process involves an extensive and rigorous third party review of all the procedures involved in manufacturing, installing and maintaining a microgeneration product. MCS accreditation recognises the quality of the highly efficient BlueGen units and gives consumers a financial incentive to migrate to efficient energy production.

Brendan Dow, Managing Director of Ceramic Fuel Cells said,

"Feed in tariffs play an important part in the UK's clean energy policy and becoming eligible for the feed in tariffs is a significant step forward for sales of our BlueGen product in the UK market."

A New Credit Card Fraud That Will Render Credit Cards Useless For Telephone Orders

A New Credit Card Fraud That Will Render Credit Cards Useless For Telephone Orders

A new and unbelievably easy type of credit card fraudster is coming to the attention of retailers who take telephone orders with credit cards. The credit card companies like VISA, AMEX, Barclaycard Etc unbelievably do not check the name on the front of a credit cards when processing card information. This easy check is open to unscrupulous fraudsters and the banks simply pass the cost of fraud over to retailers.

Here is a example on how easy it is: You purchase a television for example (or other expensive item) over the telephone from a retailer with YOUR credit card giving the correct card number, address the card is registered to and CV2 (3 numbers on back of card), BUT give a different name to that which is on the front of the credit card you would be able to commit the following fraud without any problems or consequence from the card issuer, bank or police.

Simply wait for the television to arrive, then wait for your credit card statement to come through and then dispute the transaction saying you did not order anything from that retailer. The credit card company will check the transaction and see a different name to that which is on the front of the credit card face and instantly think it is fraudulent. They then issue a chargeback to the retailer. The merchant will always pick up the tab for your free television. If you had 5 or 6 credit cards from different banks your would be able to commit this fraud once on each card and easily get away with it.

This is a ideal fraud for someone who is only going to be moving to different addresses because the banks have no system in place to combat it and they simply can not keep tabs on the different addresses you have moved on to. There is no way of stopping this growing fraud other than the banks putting a better system in place, i.e checking the name on the front of a card when precessing would be a start! ! !

Even big credit card companies like Visa have no procedures for this type of fraud. They even market themselves as ultra safe, But for who, the fraudsters??? Here is what visa sate: "Visa provides the Verified by Visa service to add an additional layer of security to your transactions. Verified by Visa protects your card against unauthorised use. Look out for the Verified by Visa logo on your favourite websites.". I would like to add to their statement " But the basics like checking the card name we will not implement and we have no procedures in place for checking persistent fraudsters"

So Remember Kids, here is how the banks let you get away with it:

1) choose a expensive item to purchase from a retailer who excepts cards over the phone
2) purchase the item with your own credit card(s)
3) give all the correct information CC including number, CV2, your address etc
4) give a false name when purchasing to that which is on your credit card
5) wait for your new stolen item to arrive at your house
6) wait for your credit card statement
7) ring up your bank and say you did not order anything from the retailer
8) The bank will instantly give you your money back because the name is inconsistant with your cards stated name.
9) Enjoy your stolen (bank endorsed) item with complete confidence there will be no come back
10) move to a different address and do the same process over again.

BlueGEN(R) receives product certification from the Australian Gas Association

Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited (AIM / ASX: CFU) a leading developer of high efficiency and low emission power products for homes and other buildings, is pleased to announce that the Company's BlueGen gas to electricity generator has been certified by the Australian Gas Association (AGA) for installation as a gas appliance in Australia.

After rigorous testing and evaluation for compliance, AGA has certified the BlueGen to a new safety standard for fuel cell appliances. BlueGen is the first product to comply with this new standard in Australia.

BlueGen is now certified as a "Type A" gas appliance, which allows BlueGen units to be installed by a licensed and trained plumber / gasfitter as for any other typical gas appliance in Australia. BlueGen has also been certified for both indoor and outdoor installations. Previously the installation of BlueGen was restricted as a "Type B" appliance, meaning that the respective State Technical Regulator was required to inspect and approve each installation.

Over the past few months the Company has been working very closely with AGA. This work included the AGA liaising with the Australian Regulatory Authorities, extensively assessing the design of the BlueGen to relevant standards and conducting independent tests on a BlueGen unit at the AGA testing facilities.

AGA is an independent body which provides accredited product certification and testing services for the gas, electrical and plumbing industries in Australia. AGA product certification is based upon an independent technical assessment of a sample product against relevant safety standards (type-testing) and compliance with any other regulatory requirements.

BlueGen has also received full CE safety approval for installation in homes and other buildings in Europe. The Company is also working towards receiving BlueGen safety approval for North America by the end of the year.

BlueGen uses patented ceramic fuel cell technology to turn natural gas into electricity and heat for hot water, with the highest electrical efficiency of any small scale generating technology in the world. In Australia BlueGen units are installed in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra and Brisbane. BlueGen units are available to commercial customers through distributors Harvey Norman Commercial division and Hills Industries.
