Market Announcement

Operations Update:
CFU leads marketing of fuel cell products in Europe
500 units installed and over 5 million operating hours accumulated
Ceramic Fuel Cells Limited (ASX / AIM: CFU), a leading developer of generators that use fuel cell technology to convert natural gas into electricity and heat for homes and other buildings, is pleased to announce that it has achieved an important technical and commercial milestone. On 11 September its service partner, Eneco, commissioned a BlueGEN unit in the Netherlands, representing the 500(th) unit in the installed and commissioned fleet of systems based on the Company's world leading SOFC technology. Earlier this month, the fleet passed the milestone of 5 million accumulated operating hours with demonstrated high levels of reliability and availability.
The unit is one of the 45 BlueGEN systems that were sold into the first stage of a virtual power plant (VPP) project on the island of Ameland, in the Netherlands. This is currently one of the largest VPP projects in Europe utilising micro-generation products based on fuel cell technology, and involves a number of project partners, including the leading Dutch gas company, GasTerra.
In the context of the developing global markets for products based on CFU's technology platform, the achievement of an installed fleet of 500 systems and 5 million accumulated operating hours is significant for the Company for the following reasons:
-- According to available industry information this makes CFU the first fuel cell company outside Japan to achieve this number of mCHP installations and accumulated operating hours.
-- In the Company's initial core markets in Europe, CFU is leading the commercialisation of fuel cell based mCHP in terms of number of systems installed and accumulated operating hours.
-- The experience gained from the growing fleet of commercially operating systems installed at customersites has:
  •  provided an acceleration of product / technology improvements (e.g. the recently announced degradation reduction) and a clear strategy for CFU's cost reduction programmes;
  • allowed CFU to identify and address challenges of the route to market; and led to improved brand recognition of Ceramic Fuels Cells and BlueGEN.

Having marketed and sold in excess of 600 units, and deployed 500 units into many different product market combinations, the Company has gained extensive experience and insights about how to adjust its marketing and sales strategy in the emerging markets for distributed micro-generation.

KFR-THP13 Swimming Pool Air Source Heat-pump Water Heater 13 kW 40000 Btu

KFR-THP13 Swimming Pool Air Source Heat-pump Water Heater 13 kW 40000 Btu

In the UK all swimming pools need to be heated in some way to get the maximum usage from them each year. A heat pump does not directly generate heat, it simply captures it and transfers it from the air to the water in your pool, providing an efficient and environmentally friendly system for heating your swimming pool. Until recently the options for heating a pool have been gas, electric or oil, all of which are either costly to run or difficult and expensive to install, or both. Air to water heat pump swimming pool heaters are both easy to install and inexpensive to run. The THP units feature a titanium heat exchanger for longer life expectancy and faster heat transfer. The unit comes with programmable timer and auto restart for critical applications such as Koi Carp. Because the unit operates at a maximum output of six times initial electrical output (1000 watts electricity produces 6000 watts of heat) they are upto 80% more efficient to run than direct electrical heating. This means the payback time on the unit can be very fast.

Key Product Features:

  • Digital LED Controller
  • Titanium Heat Exchange

All GHP models and sizes have a service interval of 10.000 hours. Generally the lifetime is calculated for max. 30.000 hours. If the GHP is used for cooling & heating all year round take care about operating hours! One year = 8.760 hours. If the project will result in such a kind of operation the GHP is not suited for this need as it would mean replacement of the unit after only 3,5 years. Normally operating hours should not exceed 2.000 – 3.000 hours a year! It is recommended to use the timer functions for stopping operation at weekend, holiday, night time etc. As GHP basic operation principle is to keep stable room temperatures by smooth operation (low rpm.) it is very important to keep in mind this point for economic long time operation.

Acta S.p.A. ("Acta" or "the Company")
Product Development Partnership and New Customer Sale
Acta S.p.A (AIM: ACTA), the hydrogen energy company, announces a product development partnership with Dantherm Power A/S ("Dantherm"), a subsidiary of Ballard Power Systems Inc (NASDAQ: BLDP), to develop a self-recharging fuel cell backup power system to address the significant opportunities for off-grid backup power in cold and remote geographic regions where traditional power sources suffer from severe drawbacks.
Initially, Acta will support Dantherm to integrate Acta's EL 1000 electrolyser with Dantherm's fuel cell backuppower system. Once integrated, the combined device will be deployed on an island location close to the Arctic Circle, where it will be powered by a wind turbine. Shipment of the order is scheduled for September 2014.
Following previous demonstrations of the capabilities of Acta's system in arid and humid environments, the project is expected to demonstrate the suitability of Acta's electrolyser products for renewable energy storageapplications in challenging cold environments. The Company and Dantherm are already in discussion regarding a number of suitable opportunities across the Nordic region.
Paolo Bert, CEO of Acta, commented: "We have been discussing technical collaboration with Dantherm for some time and we are pleased to be going ahead together with this installation. We see a significant opportunity for fuel cell backup power systems for remote locations including cold environments, where the ability to generate hydrogen onsite from renewable power sources is a key enabler.
"We also note Ballard's recent announcement regarding an engineering services agreement between Dantherm and M-Field Energy, our system integration customer in Taiwan, to enter the European material handling systems market, and believe that this channel collaboration will strengthen our leadership in onsite hydrogen generation for energy applications. We look forward to the success of the partnership with Dantherm and to extending our reach into the telecommunications backup power market together with them."
