Installation instructions suitable for the Forgen Wind Turbine 500NT and 1000NT series
The Forgen can be supplied with 3 standard mount system options:
Option 1 – Bracket and Wedge (standard system) (used to fit to a vertical flat surface)
- Remove the bracket and wedge from box.
- Slacken the “Security “ hex screw in the mounting bracket with key provided and slide out the tapered mounting plate.
- Secure the mounting plate to the surface or frame; this surface must be rigid or well supported, as there can be strong sideways forces exerted during gale conditions.
- Slide the mounting bracket over the wedge and secure by tightening the hex grub screw.
- Offer the spindle of the Forgen vawt through the hole in the bracket and tighten using the two nuts provided.
The fitting is designed to clamp directly onto a scaffold size pole of 50mm or 2” pole. Secure the fitting by tightening the 3 stainless steel clamping screws.
Note: Ensure the mount is securely fitted to the spindle of the Forgen
Option 3 – Side Mounting (used in extreme environments of cold temperature and high winds)
Option 3 is for our ‘extreme conditions’ (LT) option. This has a side mounting with a bearing assembly being fitted into the head of the rotor. The machine is attached to the side of a building, mast or other fixture with suitable bolts
General
- Run the twin core cable through to a position convenient for a switch box, connecting Block (if either are to be fitted) or direct to the battery.
- Output from the Forgen is DC and suitably self-regulating for 6, 12 or 24 with no manual adjustment needed.
- The Brown wire from the Forgen is Positive (+) and must be connected to the positive Terminal of the battery via the fuse and switch box, if fitted.
- The Blue wire is Negative (-) and must be connected to the negative terminal of the battery.
To avoid risk of damage to the generator, it is recommended that a 3 amp in line fuse is fitted into the positive line of the Forgen 500 and a 5 amp in line fuse for the Forgen 1000. This will prevent any circuit damage, In the event of the battery being incorrectly connected.
